I'm a total Betty! Hahaha, don't you just love these awesome comics from the 40's. "Archie" of course! They're so cute and the illustrations always bring a smile to my pretty profile. I keep seeing them pop up all over my tumblr, pinterest and facebook lately and had to do a post about them.

I mean, how could you not? They're adorable.

The main characters are fictional featuring teenagers Archie AndrewsBetty CooperVeronica LodgeReggie Mantle and Jughead Jones

The characters were created by publisher/editor John L. Goldwater, written by Vic Bloom and drawn by Bob Montana. They were based in part on people met by Goldwater "in the Midwest" during his travels throughout the United States while looking for jobs and places to stay.

John Goldwater, inspired by the popular Andy Hardy movies starring Mickey Rooney, wanted to create a comic about a normal person to whom readers could relate. He created "America's newest boy friend", Archibald "Chick" Andrews. In Pep Comics #22, December 1941, writer Vic Bloom and artist Bob Montana published Archie Andrews' first adventure, beginning with "Chick" showing off for his new neighbor, Betty Cooper. Ah, hello Betty!

Although the comic started in the 1940s, it has changed over the years to stay current with the times, said writer and artist Dan Parent. One example is the introduction in 2010 of openly gay character Kevin Keller, who first appeared in Veronica #202 Equality for all...even in comics.

In February 2010, Archie Comics partnered with A Squared Entertainment (A2) and POW! Entertainment to create Stan Lee Comics print and digital line.[8] Archie Comics announced at the New York Comic Con in October 2011 that its superhero line will return as an all-digital line under a subscription model with back issues archive access.

Don't you just love Stan Lee? That guys is amaze-balls.
So, are you a Betty....or a Veronica? *wink wink*

  1. I'm a huge Archie comic books fan. My aunt got me started on them as a little kid and I was always Team Betty. When I found out that Archie didn't marry Betty nor Veronica I was seriously pissed. I love the cute retro look.

I've read Archie comic books since I was a little girl reading them in my Father's barbershop!

I'm certainly not the bombshell that Veronica is and although I'm not blonde, I must be a Betty!!! Although, considering I really am a Betty (!!!), I've actually been compared to Betty Rubble of the Flintstones on occasion, but most often compared to Betty Boop!!

    Betty

  4. I am more of a Jughead:) I like to march to the beat of my own drums.
Betty and Veronica fighting over that flake Archie, who uses them both shamelessly, is inexplicable to me. I mean, Archie is not even hot! Now, you take Reggie, he is one sexy devil :D Archie should marry Veronica who scares him enough so that he would keep his cheating to a minimum, and Betty should marry that sexy bad boy Reggie. :D
