macaron...not macaroon...

Saturday, April 13, 2013

Yep, I've been spelling it wrong all this time.
It's macaron...not macaroon.
A macaron is a sweet meringue-based
confectionery made with eggs, icing sugar,
granulated sugar, almond powder or ground
almond, and food coloring.
It can be filled with jam, ganache, or buttercreme

Did you know some have traced its French debut
back to the arrival of Catherine de' Medici's Italian
pastry chefs whom she brought with her in 1533
upon marrying Henry II of France!

Now, someone go get me a pack of these sweet treats. *wink*

They used to be quite hard to find outside of France, but you can find them in more and more places now. Addictive!
