Fred Astaire was born on May 10, 1899 and died on June 22, 1987. He was born with the name of Frederick Austerlitz. He was a Broadway and film stage dancer, choreographer, actor, and a singer. His career lasted for 76 years, and during this time, he made 31 musical films. He has been frequently associated with Ginger Rogers, whom he danced with and made ten films. The American Film Institute has named him the fifth Greatest Male Star of All Time.
